Antique Edwardian pendant featuring a central garnet set in 9ct rose gold surrounded heart setting. These types of pendants were named Lavalier pendants popularised by the Duchesse de la Valliere, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France. On the back of the pendant it has the mark '9ct'.
The pendant is in between rose and yellow gold. The piece could be worn on a rose and yellow gold chain.
Garnets were used extensively in all different designs of Victorian jewellery, bracelets, rings, brooches and elaborate necklaces, they represent the birthstone of January.

9ct - Tested 9ct gold.
MEASUREMENTS
The pendant measures 4cm / 1.5" in height and 2.1cm / 0.8" in width. The pendant hangs from a new 18" rose gold chain.
CONDITION
The pendant is in good antique condition.
